The Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) requires course providers to pay a state assessment fee to process and submit your completion information to them. This ensures that the DHSMV has your information on file. You do not need to take a paper certificate with you when obtaining your license at a driver’s license location. The state assessment fees are remitted to the department's Highway Safety Operating Trust Fund, which is used to administer the general operations of the department.
